His Death and accomplishments
Steve Jobs, a man who changed our world, died October 5, 2011 in his home in Palo Alto California at the age of 56. He was survived by his sisters Patti Jobs and Mona Simpson, his wife Laurene Powell Jobs and their three children Eve, Erin and Reed. Steve also had another daughter Lisa Brennan Jobs, with his high school sweet heart, Chirs Ann Brennan.
He, Steve Wozniak and Mike Markulla Jr, developed one of the first commercially successful lines of personal computers the Apple II Series. In 1995 he was credited as a executive producer of the successful film Toy Story. He was also credited as spearheading the procucition of the Imac, the Iphone, the Ipod, the Ipad and Itunes.*
Yes Steve Jobs was a great man. He changed our world in many ways. Born in California in 1955, he was placed for adoption from his out-of-wedlock mother. He loved his adoptive parents but later sought for his biological roots and in doing so became quite close to his biological sister. At the time of his death she was one of his dearest friends.
Some people have actually put him on sainthood status. He did work hard and spent long hours away from his family, yet lived a more simple lifestyle at home, going barefoot and wearing his uniform-like black turtleneck and jeans. He traveled to India to learn the Buddhist faith but whether this was a practicing faith or something to get him through the rough times of life I do not know.
He was quoted as saying “We’re here to put a dent in the universe......We do things where we feel we can make a significant contribution. And our primary goal here is ... not to be the biggest or the richest.”
He was a demanding boss and asked people to work long hours to get the Apple products perfect.
In the early 1970's Steve started classes at Reed's college and promptly dropped out feeling he was wasting both his time and his parent's money. Mr. Job's continued to monitor classes and joined the Homebrew computer Club where he began to work with Steve Wozniak his buddy from high school.*
Mr. Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October of 2003. He changed his diet and 9 months later had surgery. Pancreatic cancer is a fast growing cancer that is difficult to diagnose until it has already progressed. It usually metastasize's quickly moving to the brain, bones and other organs. It has been said by some that Steve refused chemo drugs. If this is true it might have been because of the extensive damage already done to his health and his desire to live the rest of his life peacefully. In April of 2009 he underwent a liver transplant and was said to have an excellent prognosis. He died October 3rd 2011 about 2 years after his liver transplant.
Steve Jobs had a rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. Unfortunetly by waiting 9 months he may have decreased his chances of a cure.
Apple is remembering Steve Jobs as "a visionary, a creative genius and an amazing human being." He gave us the first personal computer, the imac, the ipod, the iPhone. He will truly be missed. Hopefully his legacy will live on at his company, Apple. The world has lost an amazing human being.
Since his death it has been said that Mr. Job's regretted postponing his surgery and not following the doctor's advice to treat his cancer.
